Michael LaVoy, ChFC, CFP®

Mike began his career in financial planning in 1983 with a national brokerage company out of New Jersey, went through the management ranks becoming a district manager in 1986. After spending this time trying to tow the corporate line, he came to the conclusion that "the firm" was not necessarily interested in the clients net worth as much as they were concerned about the price of the company stock.

In 1987 he started his own planning firm and has not looked back since. In 2002 he changed the business structure from traditional commissions to a fee-only business model. For the client the change confirms that unbiased opinions will always be given since there is no financial advantage normal with commission being paid.

Mike is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM, practitioner and holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from the American College in Bryn Mwyr, Pennsylvania, is a member of The Society for Financial Planners.

He has been accepted into the Paladin Registry as a Five Star Advisor. The Paladin Registry (www.paladinregistry.com) provides free public services to investors who use the services of financial planners and advisors. Since its inception, more than 250,000 investors have used the Registry to learn how to avoid bad financial advice, to learn how to select high quality advisors, to find competent, trustworthy professionals, to rate current advisors, and to review advisor documentation for credentials, ethics, and business practices.

Mike is a member of Van Dyke United Methodist Church, past president of the Men’s Group at Van Dyke, a Certified Christian Financial Budget Counselor through Crown Ministries. Mike also serves as a board member on the National Mental Health Association’s local affiliate.

He is also the treasurer of the Lake Magdalene Elementary Schools’ Dad’s Club, is a member of Carrollwood Area Business Association, an associate member of the Carrollwood Community Bar Association and a member of the Krewe of Venus.

When Mike is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Betty and their three children. As well as an occasional round of golf.
